The Health Officers Council (HOC) of BC logo features two herons and a dogwood flower in front of a landscape depicting the water, forest and mountains of British Columbia. Despite its delicate appearance, the dogwood flower is considered a symbol of strength due to its ability to withstand harsh conditions. Herons are viewed by some as symbols of inquisitiveness, determination and good judgement.
The HOC logo was designed by Jenna Kelly and Selenna Ho from the Public Health Association of BC, in collaboration with Indigenous artist Andrea Fritz. It contains elements that symbolize our Commitment to Reconciliation with Indigenous People.
